A helpful tool for admins to track their site and how it is being used is the Statistics section found in the Settings area of your control panel.
Here you can see all pages of your site by title, the last time the page was visited, the last time the page was updated, the last time your hit count was reset, and the number of hits for that page, as well as if the page is visible or not.
This is a great way to see where most of your viewers are looking for information and how often the page is kept up-to-date.
By clicking on the "Blank Pages" button you can view a list of all the pages on your site with no content.
As you can see here, some of these pages are getting a lot of hits but the page has no content.
This means that: viewers of your website are looking for information on these pages and finding none. This may be information they can get elsewhere in the site, it may not be.
You can use this tool to find what people are interested in learning about that needs to be updated, or what extra pages can be deleted to declutter your site.
Knowing what your viewers are looking for and what they are wanting is the first step in communicating effectively without spending a lot of time.
If you have a page that has few hits and no content, determine whether that page is wanted and needs to be updated, or if you can eliminate that page and decrease confusion on your site.
If this is a page that you want to update but don't have time right now, make sure the visibility is turned off so that your viewers aren't going to an empty page.
Utilizing this tool will bring your site up-to-date with information that your viewers want to see.
